Advanced Car Module
The Car Module has a universal setup, and can be applied to any car product range. It is a valuable tool for collecting and managing product information. The information can be used in a flexible way with XML output and XSL templates.
Typically, the Car Module is used by car distributors and dealers to manage product information from one database. The product data can be shared between sub-dealers, dealers and distributors to ensure the correct availability of the information throughout the lifecycle.
Possible uses:
-
Car manufacturers can spread the information from a central database to distributors, dealers and sub-dealers, ensuring the correct information availability in that region. Information can be distributed centrally, translated locally and added to websites, information systems, pricelists etc.
-
Dealers can manage the information on their product range and distribute it to their sub-dealers. It assures the availability of correct information on the websites, intranets, extranets, CRMs, pricelists etc.
-
Car retailers can have easy central management of model data on their websites and other mediums.
What can be achieved with the Car Module:
-
Businesses don't have to keep information up-to-date manually on separate systems.
-
Businesses have the ability to modify informationfreely; forexample, they can create a car configuratoron their website orcreate a quote using model information on the CRM software.
-
Manufacturers and distributors can achieve the common principles for sharing information from the top to the bottom. Since the Modera.net products, services and support are locally available in every major region, global goals can be achieved with local support.
General info:
The Car module is part of the Modera.net general framework, and can be used with Modera.net products.
The general purpose of the module is to make it easy to insert and update vehicle/car model-related information, display it in a universal and easy way, and also enable easy sharing of the grouped and inserted model data.
Program logic:
Data is inserted and updated using the standard Modera product administration interface. Data is stored in a SQL database.
The module itself generates XML data files which are appropriately grouped and ordered. Final output to the user is generated using XSL templates, which in turn use the XML data files as source information.
Caching is used throughout the module to enable efficient use of server resources. XML/XSL processing occurs only when data has been updated or the cache files have expired. Both generated XML files and the resulting HTML are fully cached.
Modera.net general language property is used in the Car module. Car data can be entered in virtually any language (only text-related elements in other languages must be changed).
Data and administration short overview:
- Models - model name, description in WYSIWYG mode, vehicle type and 2 general vehicle pictures
- Engines - engine capacity, performance, type, gearbox and available equipment packages
- Technical data - unlimited amount of data; user defines the data name and value
- Technical data groups - technical data can be grouped
- Packages - package name, multiple select standard and optional list of equipment
- Colors - color name, body type and color type with two different pictures for a visual of the color
- Gallery - body type, comment, three different pictures for the chosen gallery element
- Equipment - equipment group, name and price, multiple select list of other equipment that cannot be combined
- Equipment groups - equipment can be grouped and ordered
- Prices - engine, body type, package, special price, limited quantity
Additional data import (for example, prices) and export procedures can be created by request.
Integration with Modera.net:
References to the Car module and chosen XML Feed / XSL template are placed inside general Modera.net templates.
The Administrator can create a page or pages anywhere within the site content tree. They choose a template that contains the necessary Car Module reference and select other options (for example, they can choose to display a Model list template with the option to display only a certain vehicle type OR choose to display Model equipment with the additional option of Model name).
A template can also contain multiple references to the Car Module or other modules, making it possible to combine data in any way. Since all car data is displayed using XSL templates, the developer has a fully standardized and easy method of content visualization.
